The exhibition Minitrue by Austrian media artist Julian Palacz presents different artistic approaches towards privacy, surveillance and encryption. All works are generated by algorithms, the creative mandate moves toward the machine. The responsibility for finding and re-discovering creative formats moves away from the artist towards algorithm and code, or simply begins to oscillate freely between these two poles.
Julian Palacz studied Digital Art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna under Tom Fürstner, Peter Weibel and Virgil Widrich. With the use of tools and practices of surveillance and data visualization the investigates in new forms of portraits and self-portraits, made out of personal data, the traces one leaves behind in the digital world.
