In case there is any wonder what behooved us to make this full blown Elvis house; kitchen, bedroom and wardrobe, this weekend in Basement6. The cause is something about The Kings' Birthday and also we just wanna. Here is more about the people who care so hard about this fat guy.
The Baby <3s ELVIS installation is centered around an imaginary obsessed fan,
Baby Chen which may or not be based on illustrator Beryl Chung.
Beryl Chung, not an Elvis fan until she studied his fancult, created a body of design work, textile and paintings surrounding The King. More about her from Juxtapose magazine:
Illustrator Beryl Chung is a native New Yorker. She received her BFA from Parsons New School for Design... Beryl has an ongoing series dedicated to the king of rock and roll, Elvis Presley. Many of the images from Beryl's series are pulled directly from a pictorial biography she found on The King at a second hand store but she has also created her own designs.

They aim to create bespoke experiences through using playful and innovative ways of cooking and eating food.

Kader and the drawing kids are disciplined enough to sit still and sketch for extended periods of time. This Saturday you can join them and have a seat inside the BABY <3s ELVIS installation. We will sketch the subject and pinup model Lulu galore. Adorably pictured below.

The Single Bed
“BABY ♥s ELVIS” is a group show of Elvis Presley artworks under the theme of Teenage Dream Idol Worship. Elvis is repositioned as the original Justin Bieber / One Direction, and the exhibition is presented as the bedroom of “BABY,” an obsessed fangirl. In exploring the artworks in the show, you’re exploring her personal collection. The exhibition’s centerpiece is her bed, and you’re invited to sit inside and read her love letters.
I wish you could see how shiny this gold is in real life. This painting was part of a yearlong exercise I did where I tried to draw an Elvis everyday. It’s based on gold-leafed Medieval altarpieces, but I’ve taken liberties and added rhinestones to Elvis’ shroud, as well as the hound dog in his arms.
“King of Hearts”
These face cards were created in collaboration with printmaker Sean Kiefer. Each suit is represented by one of our favorite American singers from the 50s and 60s: Elvis Presley of course as the King of Hearts, Sam Cooke as the King of Clubs, Aretha Franklin as the Queen of Diamonds, and Dolly Parton as the Queen of Spades.
A tribute to American tailor Nudie Cohn who designed decorative, embroidered rhinestone-covered suits, known popularly as "Nudie Suits,” for some of the most famous country and rock & roll singers of his time, including several of Elvis’ most iconic looks. My ma, Lisa Yee, embroidered this intricate halo of flowers after one of my illustrations.
After R.W. Cowan at the National Portrait Gallery x 2
You can find anything on Taobao! I intended to commission 1 paintings from 3+7 studio in Guangzhou ??? but I received 2. The original of this painting, which hangs in the the American National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C., is quite complex, with its dramatic sky, Elvis’ TCB ring, and Graceland in the background, and the studio had two different artists attempt it. I requested they send me both versions, because displaying them together and the story behind the process is, for me, the most interesting thing about them
